This full-day experience combines one of Mexico’s most impressive natural formations with one of its most beautiful historic towns.

We begin with a visit to the Cacahuamilpa Caves, where you will walk deep into a vast underground system, following a safe path through enormous chambers shaped over millions of years.

After the caves, we continue to Taxco, a mountain town known for its silver tradition, distinctive architecture, and scenic streets. Often compared to the white towns of southern Spain, Taxco features whitewashed houses, steep cobblestone streets, and a dramatic hillside setting, giving it a unique character within Mexico.

You will explore its historic center, visit its main landmarks, and experience its atmosphere at a relaxed pace, including time to see its renowned silver craftsmanship.

The tour is designed to balance exploration and comfort, allowing you to enjoy both destinations without rushing.

I :

Hotel Pickup & Departure from Mexico City

We begin the day with pickup at your hotel or accommodation in Mexico City and travel toward the state of Guerrero. The drive allows time to leave the urban environment behind and transition into a more mountainous landscape.

II. Cacahuamilpa :

Cacahuamilpa Caverns (Underground Walk)

We arrive at the Cacahuamilpa Caverns, one of the largest cave systems in Mexico.

You will walk approximately 1.1 miles (1.8 km) into the cave along a wide and well-maintained path, passing through enormous natural chambers formed over millions of years. The scale of these spaces creates an atmosphere often compared to a natural cathedral.

The pace is relaxed, with stops along the way to observe and explain the geological formations and the history of the site.
The caves were also used as a filming location for the famous Mexican film Macario, where they represented the underworld.

III :

Transfer to Taxco

After the caverns, we continue by road toward Taxco, a historic mountain town known for its silver tradition and distinctive setting.

IV. Taxco :

Taxco (Lunch Break)

Upon arrival in Taxco, we take a break for lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant.

V :

Santa Prisca Parrish & Main Square

Afterward, we explore the historic center on foot. We visit the Church of Santa Prisca and walk through the main square and surrounding streets.

VI :

House of José de la Borda

We visit the old residence of the 18th-century silver magnate Joseph de la Borda, a building that appears modest from the outside but reveals a much larger and more complex structure within.
This house was also used as a filming location for the classic Mexican film Macario from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.

VII :

Convent of Fray Bernardino de Siena

The route includes the Convent of Fray Bernardino de Siena and time to experience the atmosphere of Taxco.

VIII :

Silver Shops

Visit to local silver shops, where you can see and explore traditional craftsmanship.

IX :

Return to Mexico City

Return to your hotel.

❓ How long is the walk inside the Cacahuamilpa Caves?

You will walk approximately 1.1 miles (1.8 km) into the cave, and the same distance back, along a wide and well-maintained path.

Most of the route is relatively flat. Roughly two-thirds of the walk is on level ground, while the remaining section includes stairs, with some ascending and descending toward the deeper areas of the cave.

Despite this, the walk is generally comfortable. Inside the cave, the temperature remains stable at around 21°C (70°F), with high humidity. In addition, the caves are located at approximately 1,100 meters (3,609 feet) above sea level, which is significantly lower than Mexico City.

This combination makes the environment feel more comfortable and easier to walk in. We also move at a relaxed pace, stopping along the way to explore and explain the different chambers, so the experience does not feel physically demanding.

❓ Is it safe inside the caves?

Yes. The caves are equipped with lighting and a solid walking path, and they are regularly visited.

We follow a safe and controlled route throughout the visit.

❓ What should I wear for this tour?

Taxco has steep, cobblestone streets, which can be uneven in some areas.
