Tour Overview
A miracle took place here.
The Basilica of Guadalupe is the most important religious site in Mexico and one of the most visited pilgrimage destinations in the world, attracting over 20 million visitors each year.
This private walking tour offers a deep exploration of the site’s historical, architectural, and cultural significance. You do not need to be religious to appreciate the layers of history found here, from 16th-century origins to modern structures.
We will discuss the 1531 apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Juan Diego, the recognition of the miracle in 1666, and the broader role of Catholicism in Mexican history, including the challenges it faced during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The tour also includes Tepeyac Hill, its viewpoint, and several important monuments in the sanctuary complex.
